Half Magic Launches Compostable Eyeshadows

The makeup line was created by Euphoria’s head makeup artist Donni Davy.

It’s no secret that sustainability is driving the beauty category right now, as more and more cosmetic brands are tapping into innovations in refillable packaging. For example, indie company Half Magic recently rolled out its new compostable eyeshadow singles.

Created by Euphoria’s Head Makeup Artist Donni Davy in collaboration with A24 films, Half Magic is an innovative makeup brand re-defining luxury beauty through groundbreaking sustainable choices.

All seven of the brand’s new eyeshadow compacts are made from PaperFoam, a sturdy, lightweight, biodegradable material created with industrial potato starch and molded cellulose. According to the company, the products are durable enough to withstand daily wear and tear.

Consumers can also “de-pot” the shadows into Half Magic’s new curbside recyclable Forever Palette.

How to Recycle Half Magic Makeup

To recycle or compost Half Magic’s compacts, remove the pan by peeling off the label and insert the tip of a pen through the bottom of the clamshell, making sure to remove any excess glue. To recycle the Forever Palette, remove the keepsake mirror and all makeup pans. Insert a finger or a pointed tool in the notch to remove the bottom frame. Peel back the perforated edges near the palette closure to remove and dispose of all magnetic parts. Recycle the now-empty palette and bottom frame.
